Agents Rising [Part II]

What happens when AI starts doing stuff for us?

Hello friends,

Welcome to AI for the Rest of Us! We’re thrilled to have you here.

If you’re reading this, you’re either a free subscriber or not a subscriber at all, so you currently do not get the full newsletter (😢).

We’re sad too, so we’re considering a change that would get you the full thing without paying. The change would involve ads – which basically means you’d get the full newsletter every week, with a few ads sprinkled in.

We’d love to know what you think about that, so we have a very simple poll:

Do you want to get the full version of the newsletter with ads?

Login or Subscribe to participate in polls.

If you mark “It depends,” would you please send us an email at [email protected] to expound on the answer? Lovely. Thank you. We’ll update you on the results.

OK, for this week’s newsletter, we’re on Part II of a two-part series on AI Agents. My guess is that you didn’t get/see the full Part I, but if you did, you’d know that we dug into the basic of AI agents – what they they are, how they work, and where you’ll find them (eventually). This week, we’re asking some of the bigger questions surrounding agents: What do the rest of us need to know about them? How will they actually change our lives, if they do at all? When will we start seeing – and feeling – their impact?

Here’s why we’re spending so much time on agents: (1) they’re mostly dominating the conversation right now, (2) they represent the next big shift in how AI will affect our daily lives, and (3) most importantly, they’re already here.

We hope you’ll join us by becoming a premium member (or marking “Absolutely” on the poll). And as always, you can listen to an AI podcast of this edition to give you a taste of what you’d get with the full thing.

Enjoy!

– Kyser

In the Know

Agents will be able to help with virtually any activity and any area of life. They will utterly change how we live our lives, online and off.

Bill Gates, November, 2023, well before agents were a hot topic

We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents ‘join the workforce’ and materially change the output of companies.

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, January, 2025, three weeks before OpenAI released its first agent

All of the catastrophic scenarios with AGI or superintelligence happen if we have agents. I want to raise a red flag. [Creating agents] is the most dangerous path.

Yoshua Bengio, considered one of the “godfathers of AI,” January, 2025

I’m coming in hot with thoughts from three of the most influential people in tech. Spoiler alert: I tend to agree with all three, and my hope here is to show you why.

The rest of the newsletter is for premium members only. Consider upgrading to view this edition and all previous ones on our website. And starting in two weeks, you’ll get the full newsletter in your inbox every other Friday.

Or better yet, if you want the full thing with ads without paying anything, click “Absolutely” in the poll above!

Whatever you decide, you can upgrade or downgrade at any point, or you can stick with free until you’re ready to join. We’re just glad to have you part of the community. Check us out on Instagram for news, content, and fun stuff. BTW, we explain on the website why we do paid memberships – just click here and scroll down to the FAQs.

It’s Play Time

This section is for premium members only.

That wraps up Part II of Agents Rising and another edition of AI for the Rest of Us. If you ever have any questions or feedback for me, I’d love to hear from you.

Until next time...
